I need to patch up a small hole in my rendering (some ivy got behind it). The hole is maybe 4 - 6 inches in size, so probably not worth getting someone out to do it.

Its right up the top of the wall near the guttering so seems to be straight onto the brick work rather than floating like the rest of it.

Can anyone offer some advice on the best way to deal with this?

Many thanks.

mix up some strongish mortar using a rinsed type plasterers sand and cement, wet the patch first and trowel it in flush with the rest.
have a cuppa and go back after 1/2 an hour and maybe trowel a little more in.
have a bite to eat, then sponge rub it up to match the rest.
