Big problem with SMEG cooker. Inner lining has split along bottom. It's only 5 years old but SMEG seem to think I should pay half towards a new one!! Has anyone else had similar problem. It's odd that SMEG should offer anything if they think it's not a manufacturing fault but the SMEG recommended engineer politely informed us that the GAS inlet pipe was at risk of combustion due to the external heat venting. HELP!!

DO NOT use an oven with a split mantle  Get it repaired by a qualified engineer or scrap it & get a new one installed.

To be honest if they offered to pay half you could probably squeeze a little more out of it. But money isn't the issue here....safety is. Changing an oven mantle is a BIG (& costly) job. Put the oven out of bounds & enter into dialogue with Smeg. It is in their interest to have satisfied customers, companies don't like bad PR. Health & safety first...money comes a poor second!
