Smeg dishwasher. Motor starts then cuts out after 1 second.

I tried to mend my dishwasher which had standing water after each run. Having tried to unblock both the outflow pipe and the internal drainage, I put the machine back on. I now find that the motor starts then cuts out after 1 second whenever I try a wash. Any ideas of how to mend it?Or, time for a repair man or even a new washer? Thanks for any advice.
