smoke alarms

hi there
i have two mains wired smoke detectors, but there go off for no apparent reason, usual in the middle of the night, i have taken them down and renewed the battery and cleaned the inside, but the problem persists,
can anyone offer advice on what i do next apart from calling out an electrician
