Trying to repoint my chimney breast.
have used snowcrete to get a whiter mortar = have mixed 3 to 1 with a yellow builders sand.
colour is quote light - matches the lime based mortar.
But a day later and its quite crumbly not hard..
I was also advised to put a bit of washing up liquid in to make it creamier and slow the setting time
actually the mortar seemed to thicken up very quickly! had to scrape the pointing with in minutes - I was wetting the brickwork before trowelling the mortar in..
any advice? thanks!
