Thank you for an answer.

Although it is a bit vague, could you elaborate as to what that means and what Labour have done?

Is it like being anti foxhunters?

I have to agree with EFL.

Any criticism is labelled anti semitism.

I was arguing with someone I know how ironic I felt it was that the once persecuted Jews were taking land from the Palestinians, diverting rivers, cutting off electricity and water supplies etc...... I was immediately labelled anti-Semitic.
I wouldn't deny that some will use the definition to deny acceptable criticism against Israel, for their foreign policy, etc.
But it must be against Israel, not against Jews.
You can be Israeli, without being a Jew. You can be a Jew without being Israeli.
That would apply to most nations.
I mean that in many senses of the comment.
You can be American. or English, or German, or Russian, etc, and be a Jew.
Similarly, you can be Aboriginal, but not be Australian. Or Chinese, but not a citizen of China, etc, etc.

Criticism against Israel is acceptable. Criticism against Jews on the basis of the Israeli foreign policy is not acceptable, and is antisemitic.

One needs to be aware of the difference between being a Jew, and being Israeli. It's not that subtle or nuanced.

It's very hard to know the truth of what Labour have done.

It seems to me Labour is divided into 2 factions that can't agree on anything.

The centrists are more pro business and they thus they network with the business community that includes Israel.

The Lefties are anti anything business and are driven by ideological purity, they support the plight of Palestine and don't engage with any Israel connections.

During Corbyn, the centrists including those with Israel connections got sidelined, they have used anti semitism as a weapon to undermine Corbyn.

The socialist left in Labour dislike the state of Israel and support groups like Hamas. That potentially makes the Labour Party hostile to Jews. The claims of anti semitism seem to stem from some Jewish people in a Labour who have said they received abuse and threats.

What we don't really know is whether the anti semitism claims are created by centrists trying to smear Corbyn or whether there really were Jewish Labour members getting genuine abuse.

I suspect the answer lies somewhere in the middle.

To answer your question, think anti Jew means verbal abuse, hatred, nasty stuff on social media aimed at Jewish people.

And to answer 'what have Labour done' -see my waffling above, TBH I don't know.

That, I would accept as a reasonable conclusion, Notch7.
I would not dispute the suggestion that there are powerful people, nationally and internationally, that exploit, even abuse, the definition of antisemitism to curtail criticism of Israel and its policies.
But that does not make the definition wrong or flawed. It makes the exploitation, and application, of the definition incorrect and inapplicable.

Cannot see what Labour have done tbh

Tis all aoad of ball cocks imo

Starmer caved in

Corbyn is not going to so good for him
