I've just been trying to replace a couple of sockets to finish off a newly decorated room.

No issues with any of the wiring, but I'm struggling to get the faceplates back on tightly. In both sockets I'm getting the screws in so far, and then one side is just spinning and not going any further. Any ideas / pointers on what I need to do?

buy new screws

If you are lucky it is the thread on the screw that is worn. You can buy a socket box rethreading tool, it is M3.5

Thanks. It just swapped the screws around, and got one of the sockets on properly, so fingers crossed its he same issue on the other side too!

Are the screws a bit too long? If they hit the back of the box (or wires inside!) then they will strip the thread on the fixing lugs.
