All,

I tried to chisel out a recess in the brick work in my house so that I could put a metal case in order to put in a plug socket with a flush plate. I ended up digging it too deep so the metal casing is too shallow.

What can I do to resolve it? Any suggestions would be great.

The only thing that I can think of is getting a 35mm metal flush casing, instead of the 25 mm one i've got. Only problem there is that it's just been plastered, so don't want to muck up the plaster.

Thanks

My above comment is based on the job being plastered up correctly. If the void now has the back box and then 10mm of side wall before the faceplate that is not an issue.

If the plate fits on with longer screws and in such away (the correct way) that there is NO gaps or access behind the face plate- then longer faceplate screws is the best way.

It is not unusual for back boxes not to lip to the facing plaster, very seldom does that happen. Reason being that at 1st fix the sparks isn't going to know how much the plasterer does- as long as they cover to the profile of the back box (or more) it really isn't a problem.
