I would be grateful if someone could tell the regulation in the 17th edition for socket distances from a kitchen sink and would this apply to any metal sink even if its in a factory in a changing area.

although i am only a humble plumber i am reliably informed by a very good electrician mate that there is no minimum distance from a sink to a socket, it has cropped up many times on kitchen refurbs where we have relocated a sink nearer an existing socket and we have been told by the spark there is no prob

There is no distance set in BS7671 but remember the socket must be suitable for the environment.

The Guide to Building Regs suggests a minimum of 30cm.

Indeed.

But, dear reader, please note the titles of the documents include the words "GUIDE" and "GUIDANCE"

Jaguar wanted to know the regulation and there isn't one that states a distance.

Per my above items must be suitable for the environment, detrimental effects, etc etc.
