Soffit Dropped

Help!

I'm trying to understand how to get this soffit parallel again at the corner of the house.

I was expecting there to be some form of channel adjacent to the house which the Soffit sits in, but I can't work out what actually holds it against the wall?

I presume the soffit just sits flush against the front one, but any suggestions on how to repair it back in place or how it's attached to the wall?

I would have thought it would be secured to the underside of trusses or rafters depending on the construction
