Soil identification

Hi

We’ll I’m making some progression on my porch wall even though small!

I’m a metre down at present and my soil is still like this

Is this clay? I know nothing about soil ‍

Would I be ok to put my footings on this please? If not do I have any options?

My footings are 1 metre deep x 600 wide
The footings itself run 1 metre long x1 metre and 7ft high

Yup that's clay, you might want to set up a pottery business, it looks nice stuff for throwing a pot! I should think you will be fine for your porch only a dwarf wall I imagine

Lol thanks and good idea … since it’s your idea I’ll drop some off for you I have lots lol

The wall is going to be around 6-7 ft high in a L shape , I already have a party wall at the other side but wanted to build the same at the opposite side of that makes sense , the wall is only 1 metre each length if that makes sense ?

For something so small ( porch it’s turning out to be a real
Pain in the back side lol
