Soil stack in ex council flat

Hi all, newbie here

Have any of you come across this before in a ex council flat ?

I want to cut the stack back and fit a toilet back to the wall. Currently it protrudes out too far but I don't know what the copper pipe going into the top is for.

Not something I’ve seen before, just check if:

1. It’s connected to another wc
2. If it forms part of the vent (likely)

Does the copper pipe go up, once through the wall? If so, probably an air vent.

Yes it does and thanks a million. you confirmed what I was thinking

An air vent to the stack - in 2 inch copper - it may well go back into the stack @ higher level - so best to seal it with something after it's cut back, or you could get smells.
