soldering near to stop tap

i was going to solder a joint in some pipework but it is only about 12" from the stop tap, would it be safe to heat the pipe so near to something that has a rubber washer inside ?

If you are worried then why not just use a compression fitting instead ,or take the pipe off from the stop tape solder everything and then put it back in

The rothenberger gel is even better mate saw it on demonstion at installer live last year,he was soldering right ontop of bit of plastic pipe,which had been covered in the gel using mapp gas

I was well impressed,but still havent bought any,i can get away with heat mat and common sense
