Soldering pipes

Hi,

Wanting to solder a 15mm water pipe together, is there any reason why I can't use thin electrical solder wire rather than the thick plumbers solder wire?
If so any tips?

think melting point may be too low to make a lasting joint! May also have lead in the alloy!

Use the proper stuff.

No, you must use lead-free solder, electrical solder will almost certainly contain lead

No, you must use lead-free solder

If it's on potable/wholesome/drinking/mains water.
If it's on a heating circuit leaded will do.
