Solid Noggin question

Progressing with my loft conversion and started laying the new joists as
150mmx50mm on 25mm packer between old 4" joist.
What solid noggins are best fitted,

I made some out off the off cuts but these look wrong as they are above the old joists by about 3".
I have also looked at laying the noggins flat two joining the old to the new then one more joining the new as there is space above
Or make a noggin and put a cut out around the old joist
