Solid Oak Flooring 18mm thick width 120mm - easy to fit?

Hi everyone

I am looking at solid oak flooring with the above measurements. I have fitted laminate flooring before but never solid wood.

I have got a price to fit it but would like if possible to save some money by fitting it myself.

Having had a read through the forum it seems that the best way to fit it is as a 'floating floor'. Does this mean that there is not glue or nails at all and that basically it joins together in the grooves and the beading round the edges (or the skirting board if replaced) basically holds it in place?

Floating means you glue the T&G properly but the floor itself is not attached the the underfloor and lays on a suitable underlayment.
