Hello, sorry if this is a stupid question... Couldn't find the answer anywhere.
I have a condensing boiler with an open-vented CH system. I recently drained the CH and added inhibitor via the F&E tank.
But if I turn both HW and CH on at the same time, will my HW tank be contaminated with the inhibitor? Since they all go through the boiler and the pump... or so I think?

Take it you have a hot water cylinder?
It has a pipe coil arrangement inside that's connected to your boiler (indirect cylinder) so heating water and domestic hot water are completely separate.

Hi, yes I have a HW cylinder in my airing cupboard in spare bedroom. I'm just confused about how the system works, how can the boiler heat both CH water and domestic HW at the same time without mixing them? Both waters go through the boiler using the same pipe, right?

There is a COIL inside the cylinder, through which the central heating water runs through. Your domestic hot water surrounds the coil and is heated.
Think of it like an electric kettle ,the electric element heats the water around it ,but your water doesn't mix with the electricity.

Thank you all. I eventually also found a nice article explaining this. I guess I wasn't searching with the right words...

Plumbing is very stressful indeed...
