Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

We have to hope that his army or his Strongmen in the Kremlin, are not prepared to do it. The longer the struggle goes on, the worse it is for both sides but the pressure builds on Putin. Putin is right that Ukranians and Russians have a common heritage. It may be once again their combined will which defeats the oppressor, which this time, is him.

There was a suggestion on the news today that Putin may be hoping for a scapegoat to blame before long, for the disaster he has caused - he is maybe looking inside Russia at that thousands who are against the war, along with blaming the incompetence of his generals. Hopefully, Putin will not be Teflon coated.

Back in February, Hummy started this thread by (wrongly) asserting that Putin would not invade Ukraine.

I happened to see an article just now, from January, by someone much wiser than Hummy.

"Vladimir Putin is about to make a fatal mistake

An invasion of Ukraine could turn into a disaster equivalent to the Soviet Union’s war in Afghanistan

"Thanks to the arms supplies and training it has received from Western allies such as the US and Britain, the Ukrainian military is better equipped and organised than it was eight years ago. Any Russian military incursion into Ukrainian territory is likely to be met with fierce resistance."

"The other key factor Mr Putin needs to take on board as he ponders his next move is the economic devastation his country is likely to suffer as a consequence of invading Ukraine. The Russian economy is roughly equivalent in size to that of Spain. The Kremlin says it is not worried at the prospect of being hit by fresh sanctions, as it has already become used to operating against a backdrop of US-imposed measures. Invading Ukraine, though, would most likely result in the implementation of punitive action on a completely different scale."

Well he didnt any of that right whatsoever………..apart from being 100% on the money.

The Russian population is getting war propaganda - even though he calls it something else which s part of the propaganda. China's population is getting their mixed view.

Neither are in NATO. Seems both have held their joint war games but no details of how extensive it was.

Our Tory war person just mentioned that things are about to get worse for Russia. C4.

The way he was introduced I thought minister of defence - ;) not so some Tory person. I didn't note the name.

Have they got there? That was touched on by the above as the Russian will obviously watch what is going on and hitting items like these is a normal aspect of war. He mentioned opening up more corridors. Also that the UK stuff is better at hitting planes than missiles - pass. There has also been mention of the range of the initial UK tank stuff. 500m so need to be close. This all may or may not be true.

Not exactly. Most of the fuss concerns abstaining from the vote. They were not the only ones. China sees itself as neutral. Their argument is that they feel a country's security needs to be included in decisions. They are firmly in favour of peace. The way they seem to see it is that currently everyone looses out including Ukraine. This from Beijing's globalisation man. That is how he is introduced on C4. He likes to mention pouring petrol on flames. Do I regard it all to be as simple as that. Maybe not but that is what they are pushing.
