We have a Sony LCD KLVL23M1 about 4 years old and is fine, but over the last few days this has started to get a blank screen randomly for 2-3 secs then come back on??

Any idea what this could be? unless its the TV transmitter from their end?

Also on the same lines, we have a Sony DVD player which is more and more refusing to play DVD's even brand new unwrapped ones that havent been played yet at all?!

Is this a laser issue and easily rectifiied or is there anything I can do myself before i send it in for repair?

If it does play its hit and miss when it will freeze through a film and give a disc error? - then you have to eject and try and find your place!

Thanks

If the sound stays on when you lose the picture you probably have a problem with the invertor pcb which produces the high voltage to drive the fluorescent tubes. If you set the brightness high as possible and turn any active backlight setting off, and when the picture disappears you can still see something illuminated on the screen then you have another fault.

the dvd laser lens can be gently cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a Johnsons cotton bud. If this doesn't work then you need a new dvd mechanism or laser assembly which will be very expensive.

No the picture goes off with the sound for about 4 secs but the green ON light is still on at the bottom...

Its just intermittent as if i have turned this off and back on again

Any ideas??\

Thanks

Have you tried it on analogue only, or an external input only. It could be a problem with the digital tv (freeview) section. It may need a software upgrade.

This TV doesnt have freeview or digital im afraid, so must be working on analog anyway??
