Ive recently added some Grade 4 Red cedar shingles to an outdoor shelter (2.8m x 1.4m). Only now have I realised that the gap between each shingle should be more than I’ve already done. Ive only done about 1 or 2mm. Seeing as its just a small area and not meant as a permanent structure would I get away with this. Rather than lift them up and re-lay them would I get away with treating with some kind of water repellant to stop them expanding as much

Thanks in advance

Dave

Agree with John, but would probably wait and see if it causes any real problem, but as you now know the gaps should be around 10mm

How long would it take before any problems are noticeable. There's been quite a bit of rain today and I'd say they were pretty tight but not raised

wouldn't like to say, but I would have thought a few cycles of fully wetting and drying would give you an indication
