I have just rewired my house in the uk and was doing some repairs to my inlaws flat in Granada Spain.

it has no earth on the lighting for sure and neither on the radial circuits.

has anyone rewired in Spain and how easy (being the optimist here) is it to run the cables through from the consumer unit through those horrible circular trunking thingies.

Also how do they Isolate the supply in its entirity as I can see the double pole isolator but cannot see how to stop the supply up to it, or do I have to buy some special gloves and do it live.

regards in advance
saludos a todos

I would say get a local electricain,

YOU may not be allowed to do DIY on electrial systems over there,

YOU will NOT know the local "wiring codes"

YOU DO NOT know what you are doing (good of you to ask)

YOU may kill your self or others through ignorance

YOU Should NEVER EVER work on something live

Electricity has no prejudices it kills anyone

thanks Breezer I will take your advice. its not as bad there as the tradesmen dont charge the sorts of figures they do here. Having rewired here I can see how bad the flat is there with no earths to speak of. Something probably to do with the Franco era!

regards
Peter

some one told me that if you give a spanish electrician the cash before he has done the job you may not see him again, wether this is true or not I can't say

who cares, the post you replied to was made over 3 years ago

A very good friend of mine has a villa just outside Silves in the Algarve.
He had a lot of problems with his electrics so called in a local guy...
After looking at the installation he informed my mate that the whole thing needed rewiring.....

So after about 3 weeks the job was done..... STILL NO EARTHS!!!!

So Cowboys reside everywhere!!!!!!!!
