Spanner symbol illuminated.

Contemplating the purchase of a Berlingo van, next to the odometer there is a illuminated spanner symbol , is this a reason for a MOT failure. Nothing else lit up, just this overdue service light.

I had a spanner symbol light up come up all the time my old Zafira, kept having to clear it, so it may be a fault.

You can get a cheap obd2 reader (elm 327) for under a tenner, with a free app download, which will let you read the fault codes and possibly reset them.
