Just had my boiler cut off as I was told part obsolete? Please can anyone help it is "the injector adapter" dont get technical with me I just want to check if what I was told is correct. :

Still by parts for that boiler, what problems are you having!!!
when turning on, the flame came on but it "sounded" as if it was trying to reignite and the noise was a little scary, the engineer when he finally came out (from insurance I paid for repairs) found a part to be broken he said it was the injector adapter, he checked but was told part obsolete! so basically condemmed boiler and disconnected it, but calling someone else in they are trying to source part as they feel its still not old enough to be obsolete, trying to avoid buying new if poss

Its a pity dou dont give the exact boiler model so we could be more targeted in our replies.

Nor do you state which insurance company scheme you have. They have no incentive to repair your boiler.

A local independent is far more likely to make an effort to obtain any spare parts which might be needed. You might well have been given a made up story!

Did they want to quote for a new boiler?

Although it is getting rather old.

Which model? as there is a fan flued and room sealed version.

you could try reading the title!! 60 2
OP the boiler is from your title the 60,000 Btu version of the mark 2 natural draught Solo
you can confirm this simply by looking at the flue - big square one MK2, 4" round flue Mk3 (the MK1 was the WM)

if the boiler sparks but doesn't ignite the first thing i would check is voltage at gas valve. the solo has a regular failure of the solenoid this can be replaced without the need to change the whole valve.
i find it hard to believe that parts are not available on this boiler.

Kevindgas,
There is a solo 2-60 Rs and a solo 2-60 Pf. How do you know which one it is?
The 2 series had Rs and Pf versions and it was only the 3 series that were all fan flued. The WM also had Pf and Rs versions.

Quite. Also the stated problem re; the ignition, led me to beleive that it is the PF.:
when turning on, the flame came on but it "sounded" as if it was trying to reignite and the noise was a little scary

Op: Can you get the RGO to specify EXACTLY what part he beleives is required

Its not unknown for someone who does not want to repair a boiler to "make up" a failed part which they know is no longer available.

Its actually quite a skilled art and some repairers have a list of parts which are no longer available and pick one off the list as the particular bit which is needed knowing that the bits not available.

The advice would be to find out the EXACT part number of the bit he says is needed and tell a local indpendent.

The chances are that it may NOT be the problem anyway!
