'Hope Not Hate' is an organisation that uses various dirty tricks to try to incriminate Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and others.
The Spectator stated that one of HNHs "journalists" used a fake passport to deceive and gain the trust of intended targets. The Spectator has now apologised because it turns out that the passport was technically not fake.
What actually happened is that the "journalist" (Harry Shukman) had changed his name by deed poll and obtained the passport under his new name, which is perfectly legal. He then went on to use this to deceive and gain the trust of intended targets before eventually changing his name by a second deed poll, back to his original name.
You couldn't make it up.
