Hello, first post but need some help.
I'm trying to remove the bulb shown. It won't push up, I've tried turning and it's having none of it, even resorted to marigolds for grip, and a pointless suction tool from a place that sounds like brew-fix!! Any help appreciated. Surely I don't have to pull the full downlight out of the ceiling. Thanks in advance everyone!

Probably do if all the normal things won't work.

There are two rectangular 'holes' in the black surround... Can a couple of flat blades go in to unclip/lever out the lamp? Or are they for the white cover plate to clip into?

If it's not easy to get out the lamp it's likely to be an integrated LED unit. So non-user-replaceable except as the complete luminaire.

They are for the white bezel to clip into.
If you need to take the whole thing out of the ceiling, Get a sharp blade and run that round the edge of the light where it meets the ceiling. That will cut any paint etc that might cause more damage.
Then pull gently downwards. Careful as you pull it free of the ceieling, there are a coupl;e of spring clips that will whack your fingers if you aren't ready for them.

Those spring retaining clips are equally likely to wreck the plasterboard hole as hurt fingers in my limited experience with such recessed light fittings.

One day someone looked at a lamp and thought 'if I fix two mousetraps to the sides of this, it will be perfect for holding it in a hole in the ceiling'

It does look like a sealed integrated led unit. Pull the whole thing out so we can see the top and the wiring and will be able to tell then
