Hi all. Please can someone help me?

I had a kitchen professionally fitted a while ago. I had spotlights fitted in the ceiling. I've changed a few bulbs, today one has blown that hasn't before. I twisted the central support and pulled down but nothing happened. It was like there was no give in the cable. Like a genius I grabbed some long nosed pliers to give better grip on the edges of the bulb and it smashed. I've tried pulling the broken bulb down but still no give from above. I can't twist the broken bulb out either as I can't hold its connector.

Where do I go now? Many thanks for any help

Phil

Gently take the fitting from the ceiling and see why the cable to the lamp cap is caught.

Photos?

No bolts.

Just gently pull the whole fitting towards you.

Keep pulling. It's the springs against the plasterboard stopping the light going any further. Be gentle tho as the plasterboard could break where the springs are.

The metal bit thats a bit prouder than the rest in the photo will likely catch on the ceiling.

Keep pulling, until you can see the legs of the springs. Then adjust your grip and push them HARD against the fitting whilst removing it from the ceiling. This will reduce the damage it does to the ceiling.

Unfortunately, this all makes more sense once you have removed one! :(

An enormous Thank you to you all. I managed to remove the whole unit without damaging the ceiling.

I now have light and a very happy missus!
