Spray painting wardrobes

We are about to re-decorate out bedroom. The bedroom has built in wardrobes measuring 5 metres x 2.4m (5 doors). Don't really have the budget to replace and my wife hates the current ones. I think they are melamine. We are thinking of getting some Plasti-Kote spray paint and seeing how one would look painted. Would I need to prime the door before spraying, if so, with what?

AFAIK If they are Melamine, you will need melamine undercoat.
