I have a ring circuit

In one room, i have a FCU which appears to be on its own curcuit. I assume that it was connected to an old water tank which has been removed.

What i want to know is whether it is okay to create a spur off this to add another socket?

I have attached an image of what is currently on the wall.

On the back it says 20amp x 250v
L1, L2, N1, N2

Overcurrent protective device - 16 amp rating

If it is not doing anything you can just replace it with a socket. You can also add more sockets of it which will make it into a 16 amp radial.

That's not an FCU by the way, its a dual pole isolator. But like winston said, either stick a socket on there or swap the switch for an FCU and spur from there.

Not quite what I said. As it is a 16 amp radial there is no need for a FCU. You can fit a socket and extend it to others.

Yeah I get you. He's just got the choice of either, in case a socket doesn't reach where he wants then he could spur to another location.
