Ok,

Now starting on the staircase painting.

I've got a squeaky newell up at the top of the bannisters.

On below i've got a vid of the direction its loose.

Downstairs it comes out and ive got a solid knock next to the newell https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx6--fM-4q6VUFFPQjhKaVZrNTQ , i think this might be a lintel, so wondering if i can secure it into this as high as possible OR if i've got to take out plasterboard here to get higher and secure.

OR I can just do a bodge job and add a wedge between the chipboard floor board and newell, as when I bridge this gap it stops moving. here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx6--fM-4q6VWEE5OVR4dmVjS0E/view?usp=sharing

Lift the floorboards by the newel post, and then find what it was originally fixed to, and then put in some glue, and a couple of screws to hold it secure. The talc tip will make it quieter (acts as a lube), but it'll carry on being loose.
