Stabilising Solution/Masonry Paint

Sorry if this is a relly naive question but I have a previously painted outhouse wall where the paint is flaking off badly, I intend to take a wire brush to the surface and then treat with stabilising solution before re-painting.

Just one question - I can get Granocryl masonry paint at a very reasonable price locally but the retailer doesn't stock Granocryl stabilising solution, is it ok to use a different manufacturer's stabilising solution under the Granocryl paint?

In other words are all stabilising solutions effectively the same?

Don't use a wire brush if your applying water based paint, pieces break off and will cause rust spots.

Using a different manufacturers SS would probably be ok but would almost certainly void the warranty on the paint if you have problems
