Hi there,

We've got a stacked vent in our roof which I'm told is for the toilet in the upstairs bathroom.

Our bathroom doesn't currently have an extractor fan - we are putting one in. The plan is to go up and out of the roof. Am I right in saying that we will need a separate roof vent ie does the stacked vent for the toilet need to be kept separate to an extractor fan vent?

Many thanks!

Yes! The Stack is ventilating the drainage system, and may emit some rather ripe odours at times. It must be kept separate, any attempt to couple the outlet from an extractor fan into it may effectively achieve the reverse of what you want to do, with foul air coming back into the room, rather than stale air and steam being removed!
