Stacking A Washing Machine and Dryer

I've just moved into my first house and there is a small untily cupboard that allows a dryer or a washing machine. Is it possible to stack these on one another? If so, I assume the washing machine should go on the bottom, due to the spin cycle....any advice would be great!

its the weight.

some makers can supply a stacking kit to "join" both appliances
