My cottage walls have been dry lined and then painted with casein paint. The previous owner had screwed some battens to the walls for shelving which i have now taken down.
The problem is that he used tanalised battens which have left some staining. I have tried painting with a clay paint but the stain keeps leaching through.
I want to keep with a breathable paint so I don't want to use emulsion. I presume I will have to seal over the staining locally but I'm not sure what I can use!
Any ideas guys?
Cheers, Russ

I think that the only to stop the staining bleeding through would be to apply an oil based primer sealer such as Dulux trade oil based primer sealer, or one of the Zinsser range.
