Stair kit

Hi. We fitted stairs to an attic room. Open type, no rises. It was a kit with each tread cut out and the 2 long side pieces had large grooves cut out for each tread to fit tightly into. And then we screwed (drilled the holes first) nails from the outside into each tread. Followed the instructions and it all went smoothly.
Trouble is they squeak. Is there anything we can do?

PS saw a similar post in April, but they were for different types of stairs.

Maybe you should have used a good wood glue as you put them together but other than that I have heard that talcum powder works for squeeking floorboards so it may work if you can get some into the ends of the treads
