Hello

I’m hoping someone can help me

Im wanting to install laminate up to my top step and can’t seem to find a product that would be suitable

My top step (and all my stairs) have a curved edge and I can’t find a product that goes over this curved edge flush and also covers the end of the laminate and leaves an expansion gap

Has anyone encountered this issue?

I’m wanting to leave the stairs as they are (and add a carpet runner) so I only need the nosing for the top step itself

I have attached some pictures of my step to help illustrate

Just to add

I ordered one product online (pictures attached) and placed it on my top step, but it doesn’t ‘grip’ the curve of the step and sort of just sits on top instead

I can make it more secure with nails/glue

But I don’t think that’s right and feel there must be a better solution

Using a grip adhesive (e.g. Stixall, etc) to fill the gap at the top really is the best way to go. Don't be tempted to saw the nosing off square - the nosing is grooved on the underside to hold the riser in place, so hacking it about isn't a great idea

Thank you

Do you mean the gap between the edge of the top step and the new nosing?

So there’s no getting away from there essentially being two bullseye ends? (One on top of the other?)

Yes

Unless you want to cut into the structurevif the staircase and potentially weaken it. Every part of a traditional closed riser stair is structural, so you normally should mess around with it. That's why, as a joiner, I gave you that answer

Oh, and BTW it us a bullnose moulding.

Ok great, thank you

Bullnose yes, that’s embarrassing. I’ll put it down to the auto correct…..

I was hoping there existed something I could buy that just fit over neatly

But i guess not

Thanks very much

Can you get quantum nosing in solid oak? I haven’t seen anything that shape made of wood/laminate

I have fitted the same nosing - I used a plug cutter set to get a very secure and almost invisible fixing.

Thank you

Was it also onto a step with a bullnose edge?

Do you have any pictures?

I’m not familiar with that method

That’s a solid oak trim I used on this one.
