Hi All

Would any of you fine people direct me to finding a good reliable staircase manufacturer/supplier. Thanks in advance.

Many joinery shops can and will manufacture a staircase for you, however, staircases are rather large to transport around so you migh find that the transport costs for a factory built unit bring it to the same (or higher) price than a locally built unit. Local joinery firms are also better able to handle stairs with turns, out of code replacements, etc. and should be able to do an accurate measuring-up for you. Where in the UK are you?

Hi "Scrit"

I have had a quote from stairplan.com via e-mail this morning £800 + vat for staircase and £100 +vat for delivery. Surely the price is bit steep. I am based in Leeds west Yorkshire. You are right buddy about dealing with a local firm.

It all depends on what it is. Can you tell us - only asking because I, too, am in West Yorkshire..... Oh, and I'm a joiner

Hi "scrit"

I want a standard pine staircase rising from ground floor to first floor @ height of 2265mm mating with landing on first floor. The staircase has to be of standard engineered pine without newell, pickets and handrail.

I am going to fit a ballister on one side. Building Regs stipulate minimum width 680mm but I might go for 760mm width. Surely this shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

I think stairplan is an exceptionally expensive company.

I would say that they're a loooong way off the mark. Are you installing yourself, or was that price inclusive of installation? If you'd like a quote from a more local firm I'd be happy to oblige - however you'll need to look me up over at Ask the Trades (all one word) .co.uk (they mod out other fora on here, hence the subterfuge)

Hi "Scrit"

The price quoted is for manufacture only. Delivery is additional £100 + VAT.
I need standard Range staircase-engineered pine strings and treads no handrail.

I am going to fit it myself. I will look you up.
