You used to be able to buy saw blades that would fit into a regular Stanley knife handle. (Although obv. not retract).

Have the b******s stopped making them?

Sorry for the delay - been occupied elsewhere.

Well, I might, or I might not.

I did look myself, but that was a few years ago, and I couldn't find the right blades. I put the problem (handle with a blade that needed replacing, and spare blades which did not fit, but were the same as the ones I'd found on sale*) to one side, and then last week when having a sort out I found them and went "Oh, yeah, I remember", and then posted here without doing a new search.

* Ah, but were they the same or were they different? Or were they not different, but not the same?

Closer inspection of them showed that I have 2 blades, both marked 1275-B.

The other blade won't photograph - it's the one that was in the handle, and wear, corrosion and gunge makes it hard to see. It's legible in the right light and at the right angle, but the camera doesn't want to know.

But definitely both say 1275-B.

And they be not the same:

One has notches the same as a knife blade, and the other does not.

One fits in the handle, the other does not

I also have a 1275-MB (metals blade?)

And that also doesn't fit

Looking at the results of the search you did (thanks), we see the same story.

Top is the Stanley "STA015277" from one seller, and below it the "0-15-277" from another

Looks like the second one has the shallower notches spaced further apart

So maybe it's not the case that the b******s have stopped making them, maybe the b******s are making different products but giving them the same model numbers.

Although TBF all the wood blades (0-15-276) do look the same in all the photos.

I've sent a support question to Stanley - it was a web form, not email, so who knows if it will work.

They'd both need to be made deeper. And one would end up almost twice as wide as it is now.

A close fit against the lugs inside the handle is essential to keep the blade firmly fixed.

I don't think that grinding bits of the blade away would work.

True, and if starting from scratch the sort of thing I'd go for, but I already have the Stanley handle, and it's non retractable so I wouldn't want to use it as a knife as I've lost the little clip-on guard.
