I used to live in a house that had a very solid wood front door with a steel plate actually inside the door (not visible) that was meant to strengthen the door against anyone trying to break in through it. The weight of the door as you opened and closed it was pretty substantial.
Is this a standard feature on wooden front doors? I've been looking in a few places and can't find anything about it, and the only BS number I can find relates to any glazed portions.
I realise that door security is mostly pointless because of the large, brittle transparent panels in every room of the house, but I would like to have a good sturdy door.
