Hi,
I have a single storey extension at the back of my house with a pitched roof. I have an existing window that I would like to make larger and to into 3m trifold doors. Obviously I need to introduce replacement (longer) steel rsj's.
My question is this. Do I need 2 steels, one for the internal blockwork and a 2nd steel for the external brickwork? Or indeed does it not matter as I'm only supporting the roof trusses, not any bricks/blocks above the steel? (I'm not trying to support the gable end of the single storey).
Don't worry, I'm not attempting this myself, but it's just out of curiosity that I'd like to know.
Thanks
