Replaced bottom flashing and step flashing, it seems that the corners circled red below are weak points? Is this right, should I add more mortar/bit of silicone?

Also, the gaps under each step, would you recommend mortar/silicone or leave open.

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

Has the step flashing been turned into the mortar bed chases?
As above, the corner needs a better bit of work.
The back gutter looks wild. Can you get pics of the back gutter?

Yes, chased out mortar, flashing turned in, held with clips then re-pointed.

Back gutter being replaced next

Looks like the lead is to narrow to give a decent rake cut .
As others have said dodgy front apron corners .. and what the heck has been done with the soakers?

In my head a bit of a fail safe
Doesn't make sense though because it's the job of the slate underneath to carry away water falling down the gap between the half width slate and its neighbour. What you've got there is a triple lap, effectively, which isn't a necessary feature of a slate roof. You could improve the look by carefully cutting away the visible square of lead across the top and down the perp, with a Stanley knife making repeated scorings in the lead. It will function the same

If you feel you need to have it then run it under the full slate adjacent the cut, rather than on top but honestly, it's completely unnecessary

Flashing's been done like this for centuries, any moisture that gets in shouldn't be a problem.

Blup
