The drive is steep, and the garage turned into a flat, so set about turning the first couple of yards into a patio, gardener had a heart attack, had to DIY, and load of building up required, so used ash from local steam trains, which seems to have worked well.

So now knocked down shed, and need to make some better steps. So fitting them 1780270214809.png in front of the concrete wall to right, old steps centre too steep. Since sleepers already used, 1780270401975.png the old shed base has been reduced in size and a wall of three sleepers used. Sorry too dark for new pictures.

So what I am not sure about is if I can use ash again under the steps, as there is a massive void needing filling, first step will have cement under it, to level it, but after first step it will need a lot of fill. And ash is free.

When I moved into my property they had used old pallets with concrete blocks under and then paving slabs on the top. This could only be a temporary solution. I built the 3-sides of the 1st step using concrete blocks and then filled the inside with rubble and a layer of concrete and then built the other steps in layers.

Rain has stopped play, top rail just sitting there, as may be too high, want steps first. Need to clean off bricks, and building rubbish will fill up some, but think ash like under the right patio is a likely way I will go.
