Hi, newbie here so forgive me if already covered. I have a Sterling 10 Alarm system which was installed 20 years ago or so. I don't use this system anymore but I have kept it turned on because I think the slow flashing lights in the external alarm box remains a deterrent. Anyway, is there a way to turn off the system but keep the alarm box blinking? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just disconnect the keypad …..any internal speakers / sounders ….and disconnect the battery and the sounder in the bell box leaving the 12v supply only from the control panel to the bell ….

If necessary, you can buy flashing LED lamps on ebay, and wire them to a battery, and put it in the bell box.

I did that when I had a system with a dummy box at the back of the house so it was visible from the garden.

You can buy a battery case that holds a few D-type cells and will last for literally years.

Thank you both for your replies. Access to the external bell box is basically impossible for me unfortunately. If I could identify the 12v feed to the bell box could I just use a 12v power supply to keep the lamps blinking? Or would that set off the sounder because it 'thinks' it's being tampered with? If I could do that then I can just disconnect the internal control panel completely, maybe?

Ok ….are you wanting to get rid of the alarm box ? The large plastic one ? If not then you are just using it as a power supply ….first stage would be remove lid and remove the 12v supply to the bell ( this will tell you if the back up battery in the bellbox works ) post pictures of inside of control panel

Hi, yeah, exactly, for all intense and purposes, the large plastic box in the airing cupboard lol is just a 12v psu right?

I would like to remove power to the box in the airing cupboard, hence removing power to all the PIRs and keypads etc.
