  • Sunday morning - presumed ran out of oil (why do these things happen on a Sunday when no deliveries)
  • Sunday evening - stuck in 100 litres purchased from garage until Oil delivery - worked fine last night
  • Today - no joy from burner, thought that it was strange after the 100l last night but guessed still low in the tank - stuck another 40 litres in this evening
  • Nothing firing from my Sterling ST108 - not even the orange light at the front of the burner
  • Checked fuses, all seem to be good
Would still being low on oil cause the orange light not to come on? Proper delivery tomorrow. Doesn't seem to be any life at all when I turn heating on, no firing, no clicking, no signs of life in general...

Check your fuse. If oil was low but it still worked, it was probably recycling and has burnt out the transformer which could have blown the fuse. If unlucky it could have blown the control box. Whichever way, follow the electrical circuit.

When I open the house for the burner there are 2 plugs - replaced fuses in both (not sure why there are two but needs must). Not a sausage. Blowing a control box doesnt sound like fun. Is it spark/boiler-man time?

Have you checked for power at the burner? You may need to remove the control box to access the terminals. What boiler is it fitted to?
