Stiff door handle and trouble locking/unlocking

Hi all

My UPVC door has become incredibly hard to raise the handle to lock (I literally have to use my whole body to force it up). Then when I got to unlock it the handle wont go down properly and I have to jiggle the handle vigorously until it seems to 'click' and I can open it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does it work with the door open?

If so check the alignments of the bolts/mushrooms.

I had a similar problem. This was the cause. I loosened the receptacles in the frame slightly, closed and opened the door and re-tightened them. Has been fine since.
