stop cock leaking

Hi,

I have a traditional type stopcock (with handle type) which cuts off water supply to my bathroom. I've just discovered a leak on the cold bath inlet.
When I shut the stopcock, it leaks slightly. Is there a way to stop it?
It seem to be coming from the top of the spindle.

tighten small nut on tap body.

or, turn off stop tap undo small nut were spindle enters tap body take about 6" ptfe tape and wrap round spindle push nut back to tap body tighten nut ,turn on tap

Just to add, when you open youre stop cock again, open it fully, then give it a quarter turn back, this will prevent it ceasing up, or getting stuck should you need to shut down again.
