Stopcock

Advice would be great

The main stopcock in the house is really awkward to turn on and off and is also in a difficult place to actuall remove and replace (Nuts are behind kitchen cupboards) knob is only visible

My question is

Is it possible to just remove and replace the actual that you turn or is this not an option or could a just soak it in wd40
