Hi,
I am looking to either create storage in my garage or in my loft, I run a small business and my excess stock is stored in a spare room, while this is ok I want to free up this room for guests. I only have about 100-150kg of stock.
I was thinking I could store it in either my garage or loft, the loft is my preference, I don't know much about this and have read up a bit, but not getting anywhere. I already use the part of the loft to store tools and other christmas stuff which wieghts well over 150kg so I know it can take the weight.
My loft has 10cm beams supporting the pitched roof and the ceiling of the floor below, the enitre loft is insulated with the yellow fibreglass insulation (the stuff that itches). Under the slates in the roof there is a membrane and under this is some sort of fibre board insultation, I have part of the loft floored already with the big sheets of 18mm flooring you get from B&Q, I plan to floor the whole lot with this.
I plan to use the rigid foil backed insulation like you get in B&Q that has the foam insulation in between, don't know what its called and put this in the joists where the slates are and use tongue and groove bits of wood to make the walls and roof and also get a window fitted or some proper ventilation. Does this sound about right?
Not interested in making this an official room regulation wise, just a store in the loft for me.
