hi there

we are putting a large extension on our house and want to run the storm water around the building to a soakaway. Can the rainwater pipes simply run to another rwp and B.I.G to change direction rather than having an inspection chamber at every change in direcion?

thanks

A storm water drain does not fall under the same strict scrutiny that a foul system would. It is acceptable for a storm system to have joins and junctions without the need for access.

However, the drains still need to be 110mm diameter pipe and not standard r.w.p. Also it pays to use roddable bottle gullies when collecting rain water at the foot of the downpipe. Try and avoid 90 degree (horizontal) turns in the pipe where possible.
