Stove flue collar substitute

I cannot get a missing stove collar - old stove, not made anymore, no parts available.
I am considering welding a circular flange in steel onto the end of the elbow to join it onto the stove.
Thoughts?
Pic attached of the part I cannot get, the back of the stove and the idea to solve the problem.
