Stoves cooker

Hi Chaps
Have a stoves electric cooker that trips the mcb when you turn on a particular ring. The heater element, hot plate and switch / thermostat are all listed as spare parts.
Could any of you chaps help me with what to test (can use a multi meter) to avoid buying the whole lot as parts when its either the element or switch / thermostat

Most likely to be the element,can you disconnect it and insulate the connections then switch on controls and see if fault has cleared.

Other than the manufacturer I have not found anywhere to get parts for my Stoves cooker.

Shouldn't need repairing anyway!
